The Hebrew language has been one of the oldest languages in human history. The Old Testament was written in Hebrew, but diminished after the 4th century. Hebrew is still used in Jewish holy ceremonies and sites.
When Israel was created in 1948, the Hebrew language became the official language of Israel.
